Smart Fit

Smart Fit, which is part of the Bio Ritmo Group, is one of the largest gym chains across Brazil. Inaugurated in 2009, the chain now has more than 700 units in Brazil and Latin America, the Smart Fit ratchet is spread across 24 states and in countries such as Argentina, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Peru, Mexico and the Dominican Republic. Its main objective is to democratize the practice of physical activity without sacrificing high standards.

To get a clearer sense of the scope of the work, just analyze the number of units of Smart Fit and Grupo Bio Ritmo and the volume of resources that this industry currently handles. At the end of 2018, gyms registered 183 million enrollments globally, an increase of 5% compared to the previous year. The fitness industry’s revenue totaled about $ 94 billion and the number of new units exceeded 210,000.

Recently, CBI magazine released the IHRSA Global 25 ranking. In the list of the 25 fastest growing fitness networks, we found the Bio Ritmo Brasil Group among the largest in the world, in 2018, in the following categories:

In other words, in such a large company, even on a global scale, the work and responsibility are enormous. And the challenge, too.

ACADEMY RATCHET – CHALLENGE

With a network of more than 2 million customers, access control has become a major and complex challenge. The turnstile for the gym with biometrics and the biometric system that was used by the client had a limit on the number of users per location and with the increase in the capacity of members per location, the cost became high.

In addition, the network of Smart Fit gyms also has a special plan, Black, which allows the access ratchet to the gym to give access to any unit in Latin America. Implementing integrated access control for the entire network is a major challenge, especially considering the difficulties that the company had in this regard.

Smart Fit faced problems with the digital limit. The initial commercialization had a limit of 5,000 registered and that number was easily surpassed by the large number of students.

To meet the need, it was necessary to acquire a new license that generated three times the cost and managed to bring a result of only 10,000 registered, which still did not meet the need of the academy.

In addition, there was a huge headache of needing to exclude fingerprints from students who stopped attending the gym, to ensure that the limit would not be crossed.

Another problem that the network often dealt with was the lack of flexibility in implementing new system resources to keep up with the company’s growth and its new needs in terms of metrics and indicators for decision making.

All of this without mentioning the high cost of acquiring a new turnstile for the gym, speaking of new units, in addition to the difficulty of carrying out periodic maintenance. When talking to the company, our immediate focus was on solving these main problems.

SMART FIT Ratchet – SOLUTION

EASY INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE

The first measure was the use of the IntegraFácil system next to the Smart Fit Turnstile, which allows the quick and practical installation of the equipment without having to configure the equipment’s IP address or open security doors on the unit’s routers.

In addition, the unit itself can replace a defective kit with a backup kit quickly without requiring specialized labor.

As a result, we eliminate a concern for the company and enable savings in implementation and maintenance costs.

BIOMETRIC ACCESS CONTROL

Our biometric solution eliminates the digital limit, it is effective, reliable and provides the best experience for users, customer access is very easy, it can be only by fingerprint (1: N) or complement with the CPF (1: 1) if the digital is not of good quality and still CPF plus password for people who really do not have digital that can serve at least for authentication as is used in banks today.

This solution was extremely valuable for the Black plan student, mentioned above. When using another unit, before our solution, he needed to go to a service totem and ask the receptionist for his access. Now, just put the CPF and digital and that’s it.

We have implemented a control panel that, in addition to managing possible system failures, also enables data collection, which helped managers in making decisions regarding access control.

THE PRODUCTS

To solve these problems, we installed a complete access control solution in each SmartFit unit, with turnstiles, biometric readers, self-service totems and isotonic drink delivery devices.

All of this integrated via the cloud to the company’s ERP, with redundancy to work offline and a dashboard in which it has access, in real time, to all devices and information from access control.
